●Japanese onomatopoeia Vol. 20 “DOKIDOKI” by Kay Koyama (JPN)
Previously I wrote about the Japanese onomatopoeia, “WAKUWAKU” which expresses uplifting excitement and a happy feeling.
“DOKIDOKI”is sometimes combined with “WAKUWAKU” although the two words are separately used in general.
“DOKIDOKI” has several meanings as compared to the simple “WAKUWAKU.”
★Happy expectations
★Nervous but expecting good things as well
★Sound of your heart beat (lol) on a rather fast tempo
→ Because “DDOKIDOKI” expresses the Japanese cardiac rhythm, I think.
●For example
★I have a butterfly in my stomach when I have concerts of my piano plays in huge concert halls. I’m always DOKIDOKI.
★GOHKAKU HAPPYO DEWA DOKIDOKI SHITA. 合格発表ではドキドキした。→ I was soooo nervous when I was to see the result of Japanese entrance exam on the board at the front of the university that I wanted to be accepted.
★My heart gonna be like DOKIDOKI
